Comedians opening up for local shows? One Knoxville comedy scenester says, "Yes!", and he's working to make it so.
With a surge in the local stand-up comedy scene drawing more comedians to the Knoxville area, comedians are having a tough time finding stage time. Recently local comic Matt Ward donated his time for a charity show for SEEED of Knoxville that involved spoken word performers and a live band.
Ward provided emcee services throwing in some comedy along the way and keeping the show rolling introducing each act. This gave him the idea to contact local bands to make it easier to get stage time each night for working comedians in the area when they are not on the road gigging.
Matt mentioned the idea to some comedians he knew and says the response was great.
So here it is, Knoxville bands and venue managers: you have an opportunity to warm up your crowd with a laugh. If you are interested in having comedians donate their time emceeing and hosting your next show please email Matt Ward at supercatmatt at gmail dot com. Comedians are also available for the Chattanooga area as well.
