"I am a Knoxville, Tennessee based songwriter who spends a hell of a lot of time driving all over bringing my songs to anyone who cares to listen.  Some folks call what I do Americana, but I have a hard time putting a label on things like that.  A lot of my songs are very much based in classic Country music while others are grounded in straight forward and greasy rock'n'roll.  I write what is ready to come out and try to be as honest as I can about it.  Give 'em a listen and call 'em what you want then get your ass out to a show!"

Here's the short history....Matt spent his earliest years the band Magpie Suite, which received a bit of notoriety around the southeast and produced three albums. More recently, he worked devotedly with the band Plan A, where he wrote songs, sang, played guitars, played cards, drank beers, and often drove from show to show in a big, brown van named Daisy (R.I.P). Plan A released and supported two full length albums between 2004 and 2009.

 

Throughout 2010 Matt focused on writing and recording new material and performing solo shows both at home and on the road in support of his 10 year acoustic retrospective called "Broken Strings & Beer Specials." The album features acoustic versions of many of the songs recorded with both Magpie Suite and Plan A, as well as a few previously unreleased tracks.

 

With new music pouring in and a new album due out Spring 2011, Matt keeps on haulin' ass down the road making new friends and fans along the way.  Through it all he has shared the stage with the likes of Drivin' n' Cryin', Zac Brown, Will Hoge, Kevn Kinney, Roger Clyne (of The Refreshments), Two Cow Garage, PALEFACE, Col. Bruce Hampton, CAKE, Brian Vander Ark (of The Verve Pipe), The Features and a seemingly never-ending list of talented independent artists who aren't getting the widespread respect they deserve from points around the globe.
