///Scott Miller and the Commonwealth
Scott Miller has been a stalwart of the Knoxville music scene for 20 years, since his arrival in 1990, when he began playing as a singer-songwriter at Hawkeye's on The Strip by the University of Tennessee. Appreciated for his storytelling, Appalachian roots, witty delivery and the drunken revelry that took place at his shows - both in the crowd, and occasionally, on stage - Miller's performances and his music grew in popularity.
In 1994, Miller joined forces with Mic Harrison, Paxton Sellers and Jeff Bills in the popular 90s alt-rock band, The V-Roys. As the first act signed to Steve Earle's E-Squared Records, The V-Roys, and Miller's music, was exposed for the first time to a national audience. Audiences agreed - the same formula of Americana songwriting and humor that Miller used as a solo act was a hit.
Since leaving the V-Roys in 1999, Miller has fronted his own band, Scott Miller and the Commonwealth. They have toured extensively throughout the United States and beyond, including a noted tour down the Eastern Seaboard's Amtrak line, and played a stint as Jeff Foxworthy's house band on Blue Collar TV.
Six albums later, Miller and his music are still going strong, keeping old fans and new ones entertained, and tied to the Appalachian roots that infuse his musical stories.
